The West Virginia Gazette’s article “Counseling Program Aims to Help Returning Veterans” discusses the volunteer mental health professional-powered organization Give an Hour, a nonprofit organization providing free mental health services to U.S. military personnel and families affected by the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The article also cites the CIAV and our statement on the importance of collaborating with government, DoD, VA, other nonprofits, and the community to deliver support to those who serve.
The importance of collaboration was demonstrated when the CIAV worked with Give an Hour volunteers during our 2nd Annual Conference this past month in Washington, D.C. when we enlisted their help in talking with service providers at the conference who were experiencing stress.
