COMING HOME PROJECT AND 63RD RSC FAMILY SUPPORT PRESENT WELLNESS FOR SERVICE MEMBERS VETERANS, & ADULT FAMILY MEMBERS

070212-N-0916O-039The Coming Home Project has partnered with the 63rd Regional Support Command (RSC) to provide two training classes for service members, veterans and their families at Moffett Field California throughout the month of April.

Keeping it Together – Stress Management Skills for Service Members, Veterans and Family Members,” will present a hollistic approach to managing stress and enhancing wellness for veterans, servicemember, and family members over 18 years of age. Dr. Joseph Bobrow Roshi, psychologist and meditation instructor, will present along with Tai Chi and Qigong instructor Master Ron Lew.

The class will include instruction and practice in two methods that have shown great results: mindfulness meditation and qigong practice. Qigong exercises were developed over 1500 years ago in China and Tibet. They include slow movements with the focus on breath work providing relaxation, the release of stress and refocusing energy. Mindful meditation helps to deploy attention, reduce mental anguish, and experience peace of mind. This two-hour session will be held from 6 – 8 pm on April 19 and 26 and May 3.

Parenting Together, Parenting Alone – Skills for Building Resilient Military Children and Families,” is a two  session training designed for any military parent(s) of children 0-18 years of age. Donna Erickson, MA will provide an overview of children’s needs, parenting challenges and skills necessary for rewarding family relationships. The first of the two sessions will focus on guidelines for children of all ages, while the second will be split into two parts – one regarding infants, toddlers, preschool and elementary school aged children’s issues, the other focusing on adolescent’s issues. The two sessions will take place from 6 – 8 pm on April 13, 20, and 27.

Both classes will be held at The Villages at Moffett Clubhouse – Building 48 Wescoat Court, Moffett Field, CA 94035
